Enrique Fajardo Marin, 40, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to illegally reentering the United States in June. This is the third time he has been arrested while living illegally in the country.
Fajardo was convicted in Danbury Superior Court of illegal sexual contact with a minor and risk of injury in December 2011. He was sentenced to a term of 18 years in prison, execution suspended after 10 years, with 20 years of probation. He was also required to register as a sex offender. He was released from state custody on Feb. 5, 2016, and deported back to Ecuador.
Less than two years later, Fajardo was back in trouble with the law, when he was arrested in Worcester, Massachusetts for a separate incident. The investigation determined that he illegally reentered the country and had been living in Danbury since December 2016. Fajardo also failed to register as a sex offender.
Fajardo has been detained since his arrest. He pleaded guilty in federal court on June 18 to one count of illegally reentering the U.S.
